The International Center for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHEI) has inked a strategic cooperation deal with UBTECH Robotics to jointly improve AI education quality in Asian and African developing countries with the building of a virtual institute that delivers education resources and training programs.

“To address the education resource scarcity problem and relieve quality-equity tension,” said Professor Li Ming, Director of ICHEI, “we are planning to set up International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), a flagship project that will use the blended learning mode to offer customized online programs to universities to meet the local demands for higher education and improve youth employment.”

According to the bilateral agreement signed on October 29, UBTECH Robotics will provide systematic AI and robotic curriculums to IIOE while at the same time the Center is expected to introduce UBTECH’s AI robots to its university partners in Asia and Africa as educational tools for AI teaching and learning

Zhong Yong, Senior Vice President of the Shenzhen-based Unicorn, noted that the partnership served as a perfect example of AI industry and education integration, and could contribute to the building of AI robotic education ecosystem as well as the popularization of AI robotic higher education.

“Under the principle of linking to the real world, we are confident that UBTECH will work with ICHEI to successfully bring enterprises into universities and help students enter enterprises,” pledged Zhong.

The initiative goes in line with UBTECH’s ambitious goal to establish a global “AI+Robots” educational ecosystem with its partners in terms of product and technology development, market exploiting and AI talent training. As of September 2019, the tech firm has deployed its complete AI robotic education solution running from preliminary school to university to more than 40 countries worldwide.
